On behalf of the clients, we were engaged to remove the existing deck membrane and parapet cladding, install a new TPO membrane to the deck over the double garage and install new fibre cement sheet parapet cladding including custom-made aluminium cap flashings to the parapet.

When we arrived on site, we found the existing butynol membrane was well past its use-by date and had failed in a couple of isolated areas, allowing water into the garage ceiling below.

Following the removal of the existing butynol membrane and parapet cladding, we re-screwed the existing plywood substrate and removed any rough edges. We installed new timber nogging to the deck perimeter to allow the new TPO membrane to lap up the vertical surfaces of the deck with adequate fixing behind.

We had to remove and reinstate some solid plaster cladding once the new membrane had been installed.

The final element of the project was to have custom-made powder-coated aluminium flashings measured and installed to cap off and waterproof the new parapet cladding.

All in all, a streamlined project under a fully shrinkwrapped deck to allow for a seamless scope of work with no possibility of rain delay.
